It has a lot of climbing structures, which was great for my 8 year old. He enjoyed it because this park is really geared toward older kids. There is a small toddler playground, and some fun logs and rocks to climb on, but mostly, this park is for kids age 5-12. One of Sugar House’s best assets is its namesake park, which overlooks the Wasatch mountains’ soaring ridgelines.

The former site of Utah's first state prison, Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County jointly acquired the land from the State of Utah in the 1950's following the prison move to the Point of the Mountain. In 1957, the park was established and the city and county proceeded to deed the property, in trust, to the Sugar House Park Authority and continue to maintain a partnership to provide park maintenance. Since the park’s formation in 1950s, Sugar House Park has been the crown jewel of the historic Sugar House area of Salt Lake City.
